iBuildApp now offers the ability to send special offers via location-based notifications to customers’ phone (iPhone and Android). Your customers will receive alerts whenever their personal GPS locator device leaves or enters a Zone. POI is configured via App Control Panel, on the ‘Notifications‘ page.
When clicking on ‘Add GPS Notification’ button, it pops up with a window:
The user is also required to enter the POI info, desired radius (options of 100 feet, 300 feet, 500 feet, 1 mile, 2 miles, 5 miles, 10 miles, 15 miles) and the text message.
Alerts will get generated when the user is physically located near a specific Point Of Interest (POI).
The most prominent example is targeted advertising.
NOTE: the current application (created before November, 22) may not support GPS Notifications feature. A user should resubmit their app (re-compile it and upload updated version on the app store).
NOTE: the feature will work only with GPS-enabled cell phonesThe GPS receiver consumes a significant amount of energy, and should be switched off most of the time in order to preserve the device’s battery life. Also note that it usually takes a while to acquire the device’s current position; in some cases, it may take several minutes and may not work at all indoors.
